Complete Commercial Cocoa Production & Profitability Manual
Cocoa farming is a high-value tropical agribusiness venture. Cocoa beans are the primary raw material for chocolate production and global confectionery industries. With increasing worldwide demand, commercial cocoa cultivation offers long-term profitability for farmers in suitable climates.
Cocoa thrives in humid tropical regions with partial shade during early growth stages.
Clear land carefully while preserving shade trees. Dig planting holes 45cm x 45cm and mix topsoil with compost or well-rotted manure.
Spacing: 3m x 3m (approx. 1100 trees per hectare).
Young cocoa trees require consistent moisture. Apply organic manure annually and balanced NPK fertilizer based on soil testing results.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) including pruning, sanitation and approved fungicides is recommended.
Cocoa begins producing pods 3–4 years after planting.
Proper fermentation enhances flavor and export quality.
